- 1/4 cup butter
 
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion*
 
- 1/4 cup flour
 
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste
 
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, to taste
 
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
 
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
 
- 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
 
- 1 pkg Green Giant® Simply Steam™ Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower & Cheese Sauce
 
- 3/4 cup half & half
 
- 3/4 cup 2% or whole milk
 
- 1 1/2 cups (6oz) grated sharp cheddar cheese, plus more for servings**
 
- Pinch of cayenne, optional
 
                         
                     
                    
                        
                            Directions
                            
- Microwave Green Giant Vegetables according to pack instructions.
 
- Meanwhile melt butter in a large pot. Add onions and saute until tender, 2-3 minutes.
 
- Sprinkle flour over butter and onions and cook, whisking constantly, for 1 minute.
 
- Whisk in salt, pepper and garlic powder.
 
- Gradually whisk in vegetables or chicken broth and Dijon until smooth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer.
 
- Add Green Giant Vegetables to soup and continue simmering for 10 minutes.
 
- Whisk in half and hald and milk and bring back to a simmer
 
- Gradually whisk in shredded cheese and remove from heat.
 
- Adjust seasoning.
 
- Pour into warm bowls and garnish with shredded cheese.
